2016 Sailing School Instructors

Nathan Jamieson:  Head Coach

For those who don’t know me, my name is Nathan Jamieson and I am a junior at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Born in Los Angeles, I began sailing at the age of eight, accompanying my dad on our weekly Wednesday Night series. I started racing Lasers and FJ’s competitively throughout Middle School and High School with the California Yacht Club Junior Racing Team, traveling throughout the West Coast. In High School, I founded my school’s first ever Sailing Team wherein, at the conclusion of my Senior Year, we placed third at the Pacific Coast Championship.

Now in college, I am a member of the Wisconsin Sailing Team. With this team, I have raced throughout the Midwest and occasionally on the East Coast. I have represented Wisconsin sailing FJ’s, Lasers, 420’s, and even a J105. In addition to college sailing, I love sailing on big boats. This year in fact will mark my sixth Mac Race.

I study Political Science and Business, with a plan to go to Law School after I graduate. If I am not studying or sailing, I enjoy good food and traveling. As with all sailors as well, I appreciate a good story.

If anyone has any questions about anything throughout the summer, whether the question is in regards to college sailing, college in general, racing, or anything else, please just ask me!

I am very much looking forward to a tremendously fun and productive summer. In addition, I am excited to meet everyone and get out on the water!

Alex Keck:  Opti Coach and Assistant X Boat Coach

I started sailing Optis on Lake Beulah at the age of five.  I enjoyed sailing my Opti until the age of thirteen.  I crewed on an X boat for three years.  I then skippered an X boat on Lake Nagawicka for four years.  I have been fortunate to sail for Kettle Moraine High School since I was a freshman. The team has done well and we have had a great time. This past fall KM was ranked second in MISSA, and qualified for a regatta in Norfolk, Virginia.  I am very excited to be able to have the chance this summer to coach on Pine Lake.  I look forward to traveling to regattas with all the kids.  I am also very excited to co-skipper a C boat on Lake Beulah with a friend.

Jack Behrend: X Boat Coach

Throughout my sailing career, regattas and races have always been an eye opener to me. I have participated in many events that have made me grow as a racer. I have participated in multiple ILYA regattas including an Inland victory in 2012. That same year I took home a first place in both the T.R.A.P and the Quint regatta. I currently race C Scows on Nagawicka Lake and also participate in the Milwaukee Youth Sailing Team (MYST) out of Pewaukee Lake. In the past years I have gained knowledge and been presented with experiences that have made me grow as a sailor.  As you know I have coached at Pine Lake during the past two sailing seasons.  I love coaching at Pine Lake, and I am very excited to continue this summer!
